Why taking a LONG vacation is so critical to you and your business?

Lets start with the key questions?

  1. What’s it like for you to go away on vacation, does everything have to be done before you go away?
  2. Is it more stressful going on vacation then when your at work on a normal Wednesday?
  3. What happens when you go away on vacation?   Do you have to work every day just to manage the small fires, the leads and to answer questions?
  4. Can you even take vacations, or are you so integral to the day to day that you need to be involved?

Now lets start to shift gears a bit!

Have you ever thought about taking a vacation, but can’t, couldn’t, or simply just know coming back wouldn’t be worth the time away?

What if I told you that the single best thing you could do for you and your business is to take 3 weeks off without contact to your business!

What would that be like for you?  If you say to yourself, gosh that would be nice but its impossible!  IF you say that, then please reach out as this is likely the single most critical and most important thing you can do for yourself and your business this year.

I’ll tell you why.

The Most Important Business Tool to Help Get Your Business Through the Corona-virus Crisis

Today, the most important tool aside from cash in your business, and arguably more important than cash is your “LEADS TRACKING!”  At this point we’re 30 days into this new world as the Corona Virus Pandemic is real and is here to stay for a long while.

If you have not begun evaluating your leads, compared your leads to a year ago at this time, tried to identify a similar month, or had the time to forecast your lead projections for the next 6 months then you’re business could be in real trouble.  Its not too late, but its time to realize that your lead is your greatest predictor of future revenue!

For example, some businesses need families to make big decisions for large purchases.  Thus, when families are together for a period of time they make critical decisions that they cannot make when they are working 65 hours a week and managing soccer, baseball and dive lessons!  They know that their leads after periods of vacation spike, and then get slower during the months of October, July and February (no vacations, or no end to a vacation).  Many of these companies have made some predictions, and have a plan moving forward that they can begin to track and adjust.

If you have not started using your leads as your single most important fiscal tool during this crisis, you need to start!

Regardless of how much you track your data, I would like to help you through this process as many key decisions can be made to help your company survive!

It’s JUST $11.99 per month, lets try it and see if we use it!

Let me start by saying coffee changed my life!

We signed into a coffee subscription service for office coffee when we moved into a new office space about ten years ago.  This is fairly common as everyone I knew had some sort of cool coffee pod system and I needed one too right?  Long story short, we cancelled the service after a few months, and I began to wonder how may similar mistakes had I made that weren’t so obvious?

The coffee service was my little light bulb, how many similar decisions have I made?  How many subscription and services had we added over the past many years.  Off the top of my head we had the obvious car payments, and office lease, but I was more thinking about cell phones, credit card fee’s, bank fees, coffee services, monthly IT services, satellite radio, media services, book services, marketing subscriptions, magazines, accounting software licenses, online tools like calendars and lead tracking services, or how about things like advertising services and customer satisfaction tools?  What else may I not even really know about?

The answer was astonishing, but I NEEDED all them right, my gut said that I really did NEED them!  I mean, how could I not have accounting software, or online calendars, or online tools for my employee’s!?  My satellite radio was paid for in my company car, how could I drive WITHOUT radio?  I was left with a serious question, “What does my company NEED, and what do I NEED to be successful.”

The journey became cathartic, it was something I looked forward monthly!  What I did was I found three line items each month that were the lowest priority and I cancelled them.  For 12 months I wrote them down, and tried to see who would notice, I wondered if anyone would get mad, or may it change my business?  By and large, everything I cancelled flew under the radar.  For example, we switched from individual coffee pods, to the best Starbucks coffee we could buy and we made coffee by the pot along with an individual pod brewer (purchased pods online).  This saved us hundreds per month, and nobody mentioned it.  I cancelled sales lead tracking services and went back to shared .xls sheets, we kept the accounting system but cancelled satellite radio and I shifted to using only a web based streaming vendor.  In the end the change was HUGE and the savings was GIGANTIC!

The key to this story is that in today’s accounting we need to focus a great deal on the subscription line items as they add up to a HUGE portion of our budgets!
